***NEW*** Final Reminder: Call for Nominations - 2026 PEGNL Board of Directors
The PEGNL Board is responsible for building and shaping policy in relation to the regulation of the professions of engineering and geoscience. This year, we are seeking nominations for three positions on the Board, Chair-Elect (one) and Director (two). One of the Director positions this year is reserved for a Professional Geoscientist in accordance with By-Law. These three positions will serve three-year terms.
 Nominations are open until February 26.


Camp 20 will hold the 2026 Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer on March 28, 2026. The event will be held at the Holy Heart Theatre, St. John’s. Obligated engineers are invited to attend. Space is limited, so those who wish to attend should pre-register here.

Candidates who are Members of Memorial University's 2026 Undergraduate Engineering graduating class should be registered automatically. All other candidates who wish to participate in the ceremony must register here.


The PIEVC Programs Webinar Series was created to provide a platform for professionals from diverse fields to share their experiences and insights on applying the PIEVC Protocol to their projects. The PIEVC team is looking for speakers for the March Webinar. If you and/or your team have used the PIEVC Protocol for your projects (finished or ongoing), your knowledge, experiences, and lessons are valuable to the community and the rest of the PIEVC Network would love to hear what you have to share!

If you are interested in presenting, submit an abstract for consideration (maximum length 250 words) via a Word or PDF document with the subject line “PIEVC Webinar Abstract” to pievc@iclr.org. The PIEVC Program will review all submissions and contact selected presenters directly. Submission deadline for the March webinar is February 27.

***NEW*** Municipalities Newfoundland & Labrador's 2026 Municipal Symposium registration is now open. Scheduled May 7 to 9, in Gander, the Municipal Symposium presents best practices in the municipal sector, with an emphasis on professional development sessions to build capacity in the municipal sector, in addition to informational updates from key partners and stakeholders. For details and to register, visit the 2026 Municipal Symposium webpage.


***NEW*** Memorial University's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science is hosting its annual Open House Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 10:00am to 3:00pm in the S. J. Carew building. Join them and meet students, staff and the Faculty. Check out the Memorial Engineering Outreach station in EN2007 to see exciting robots, 3D printing, design challenges and more. PEGNL has sponsored a short course by the Geological Association of Canada (GAC), titled SC01: Surficial geochemistry and indicator minerals methods in mineral exploration. The short course will take place at the College of the North Atlantic, St. John's, NL, this May 24 to 25, 2026. The cost is $500 for Professionals and $150 for Students. North Atlantic is inviting the community to a supplier session on their Wind to Hydrogen Project. A supplier session will take place March 3, 2026, 9:30am to 12pm, at the Sunnyside Recreation and Wellness Centre and a second supplier session will take place March 4, 2026, 9am to 1pm, at the St. John's Emera Innovation Exchange.


A webinar titled "Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) for Engineers and Geoscientists" is available on the PEGNL Learning Portal under Ethical Practice Learning Category. Produced by Engineers Canada, with guidance from the EDI Training Task Force, made up of representatives from the 30 by 30 Champions network and in partnership with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia, and Geoscientists Canada. This course is a foundational training on EDI to help individuals develop competencies in inclusive behaviours and emotional intelligence. EDI in engineering and geoscience means fostering professional environments and relationships that welcome and advocate for diversity among professionals and enable all professionals to contribute to their full potential without barriers or discriminations.

This year’s theme — Transform Your Future! — is a powerful reminder that engineering doesn’t just shape our world, it shapes our opportunities, our communities, and the futures we can imagine for ourselves and our children. Geoscientists Canada has renewed and expanded its collaboration with Geologize for another two years (2026–2028), continuing to provide free access for all licensed and registered members, to Geologize’s critically acclaimed online training. This includes continued access to Practical Geocommunication, which has already helped over 4,000 P.Geo.s across Canada enhance how they communicate the value and importance of their work to the public, industry, and policymakers. It also includes the brand-new Mining Communication course, having a mining focus but designed to help geoscientists in all disciplines develop stronger, clearer, and more impactful messages about our profession’s role in our modern society.
