Registration Requirements
PEGNL’s registration requirements can be found in our Registration Policy and are summarized below.

PEGNL's requirements for professional registration can be found in our Registration Policy and are summarized as follows:
- Acceptable Academic Qualifications
- Engineering (see Section 4 of the Registration Policy) - an acceptable undergraduate degree in Engineering
- Geoscience (see Section 5 of the Registration Policy) - must meet the Geoscience Knowledge Requirements (GKR)
- You must provide course descriptions (in English) for any geoscience credentials not completed at Memorial University.
- Limited License (see Section 6 of the Registration Policy) - science degree in a discipline acceptable to PEGNL, degree or diploma in engineering technology or geoscience technology, a graduate degree in engineering or geoscience, or other academic qualifications acceptable to PEGNL.
- Official Proof of Academic Qualifications (see Section 7 of the Registration Policy)
- Canadian Post-Secondary Institutions: Complete set of academic transcripts sent directly from the institution to PEGNL
- International Post-Secondary Institutions: World Education Services (WES) Course-by-Course evaluation report sent directly from WES to PEGNL.
- *NOTE: your transcript or WES report must show the credential as AWARDED to be accepted by PEGNL.
- Acceptable Engineering or Geoscience Experience (see Section 8 of the Registration Policy)
- Professional Licensure (P. Eng. or P. Geo.): Minimum of 4 years experience plus successful completion of a Competency Based Assessment (CBA).
- Limited License (Eng. L. or Geo. L.): Minimum of 8 years experience plus completion of Work Experience Reports and the CBA Canadian Competencies.
- International experience can be used to meet the experience requirement.
- There is a Canadian experience requirement, but it is competency based. International examples can be used for these competencies provided that you explicitly describe how your international experience is equivalent to the Canadian engineering or geoscience environment and identify the Canadian codes and standards that are equivalent to the ones used in your international experience examples.
- Language - Demonstrate proficiency in English (see Section 9 of the Registration Policy)
- Good Character (see Section 10 of the Registration Policy) - see Engineers Canada's Public Guideline on Good Character for more information
- Ethics (see Section 11 of the Registration Policy) - complete the National Professional Practice and Ethics Exam
Members-in-Training (E.I.T. or G.I.T.) are only required to meet the academic and character requirements to register as a member-in-training.
Limited Licensees (Eng. L. or Geo. L.) must also submit a Scope of Practice form (see Section 12 of the Registration Policy).
