***NEW*** The PEGNL Board of Directors Election is open. Members have now received an email from the election system provider, with instructions on how to vote. Voting is open until June 4, 2025.
***NEW*** PEGNL will be holding its Annual General Meeting virtually on June 13, 2025 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm NDT. Registration details will be provided at a later date for those who wish to attend. Submissions to the AGM agenda are due May 23, 2025, the form with which to note your proposed AGM agenda item and member support can be found here.
***NEW*** Hire a Memorial Engineering Co-op Student. Memorial University engineering students are still available for four-month work terms starting this May. Hiring a co-op student provides valuable support for your organization while giving students hands-on industry experience. If your organization is interested in hiring a student, please contact the Engineering Co-operative Education Office at coopeng@mun.ca to post a position. Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO) published its fourth article supporting PGO's 25th anniversary article series. The article is titled "The Future of Professional Geoscience: Perspectives from Students, GITs and Early Career Professionals". This article was prepared by a committee of volunteers from PGO working to plan a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Professional Geoscientists Act on June 6, 2025. ***NEW*** Energy NL's Conference & Exhibition will take place June 3 to 5, 2025, at the St. John's Convention Centre, St. John's, NL. PEGNL will be attending as an exhibitor and welcome the opportunity to continue our outreach efforts with stakeholder groups.
Registration is open for the 2025 International Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDI-AR) Conference! This conference will bring together students, staff, researchers, faculty, community leaders and industry professionals from around the world to share success stories and achievements. Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) will be holding their first conference in Newfoundland, May 21 to 25, 2025. The conference is being held at the Delta Hotel, St. John's, with expert-led sessions to industry networking and unforgettable East Coast experiences. A global partnership between the PMI Chapters of Ireland and Newfoundland & Labrador, brought together international expertise in offshore energy and project management to present the first construction event of the year "From Grid to Growth – Offshore Energy Projects", during which the future of offshore energy and its impact on growth and innovation are explored. NLCA Build 2025 Expo is taking place May 7-8, 2025, at Jack Byrne Regional Sport and Entertainment Centre. NL's Largest Commercial and Industrial Construction Trade event showcasing the latest equipment advances & newest technology applications in different aspects of the commercial and industrial construction industry. During this two-day event a number of fireside chats will be held, providing opportunities for learning and development. The Central MinEx Mineral Industry Showcase is an initiative by the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Town of Gander. This conference and trade show event will promote exciting dialogue featuring industry thought leaders, technical experts, suppliers and the local business community to exchange ideas and ignite new opportunities in the mineral exploration and development sector. The conference program features a Trade Show, Prospectors’ Tent, Core Shack, and Networking Events.
