NL Workforce Innovation Centre (NLWIC) is leading a Workforce Development Needs Assessment, and are inviting selected organizations and labour market stakeholders across Newfoundland and Labrador to complete a survey on workforce challenges, skills and training needs, population growth, tariff, trade and supply chain impacts, access to workforce development supports and regional and sector-specific labour market realities. The survey takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The survey closes on September 20, 2026. To access the survey click here.

PEGNL is soliciting volunteers to server on its Disciplinary Panel. The Disciplinary Panel provides a pool of PEGNL registrants who may be called to serve on an Adjudication Tribunal in a discipline case. To express interest, please complete a volunteer application here.

The Energy NL-Hibernia Scholarship Fund was established to commemorate 1997, a landmark year when the Hibernia project was successfully completed, hauled out to sea, and started drawing oil. Presented annually, and designed to foster the bright minds that will shape the future of our industry, the award provides $1,000 to a graduating high school student in Newfoundland and Labrador who is entering post-secondary studies with the intention of pursuing an energy-related career. Applications are reviewed by Energy NL’s selection committee and the award is presented to the applicant who best meets the academic and extra-curricular criteria. Memorial University's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science is hosting the 2026 F.W. Angel Lecture, featuring Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Hanselka, President, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM at Memorial's Bruneau Centre for Research and Innovation, Room IIC 2001. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Hanselka is President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, one of the world’s leading applied research organizations. Fraunhofer plays a unique role in Germany’s innovation ecosystem, turning research into practical solutions with real-world impact. The topic of this year's lecture is "Building for Innovation: Lessons from the Fraunhofer Model on Bridging Applied Research and Industry". The event will be followed by a catered reception. On September 14, 2026, learn about the Atlantic Immigrant Career Loan Fund (AICLF). This ISANS-led initiative can help immigrants with permanent resident status or Canadian citizenship obtain training and certification in their chosen fields or related fields in their new home provinces. Engineers Canada’s Pathway to Engineering program will be hosting a free webinar entitled “Licensure 101: What Every Engineering Student Needs to Know” on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from noon to 1:00 p.m. EDT. Designed with engineering students in mind, this session is delivered live with a Q&A.

All who register to attend the webinar and agree to be subscribed to Pathway to Engineering news alerts will be provided an opportunity to enter their name into a draw for a chance to win a National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE) Prep Course (a $300-$400 value) from Practice PPE Exams. Engineers Nova Scotia would like to invite PEGNL's registrants to their upcoming webinar, “Building Community in Consulting Engineering: The Story of Women in Consulting Engineering (WCE)” taking place on September 23, 2026, from 12:00–1:00 p.m. ADT via Microsoft Teams. The session will feature representatives from Women in Consulting Engineering (WCE) Canada, who will share the organization’s work across the country, including its mentorship, networking, professional development, and volunteer-led initiatives, as well as opportunities for engineers to become involved.

The IEEE Newfoundland and Labrador Section, in partnership with Memorial University of Newfoundland, presents The 34th Annual Newfoundland Electrical and Computer Engineering Conference on November 12, 2026. A forum where professionals in electrical, electronic and computer engineering as well as information technologies can present their work to the growing technical community within the province. NECEC 2026 will focus on technical concepts, innovations and implementations.
