***NEW*** The presentation by Randy Herrmann, P. Eng., FEC, on "Decolonizing Engineering" is now available to members on the PEGNL Learning Platform.
***NEW*** Call for volunteers. PEGNL’s Connections East group are looking for additional volunteers. The group formed by volunteer engineers and geoscientists, promote professional development, networking, and social opportunities for the license holders in their district. Volunteers are required to aid the existing opportunities being offered throughout 2025 and beyond. Please email east@connectionsnl.ca to express interest in volunteering.
Iron Stories is an upcoming book collecting personal reflections from engineers across Canada to explore what it means to be an engineer in today's evolving world. Using the iron ring as a narrative anchor, the book will blend first-person stories with extensive research to catalyse conversations about engineering identity, purpose, duty, legacy and stewardship. This fall, CLIMAtlantic will host a three-part webinar series exploring how you can put nature and climate first in everyday decision making. They will cover how to prioritize nature in adaptation work and share examples from across Atlantic Canada. The September webinar will feature Alexandre Truchon-Savard from the City of Dieppe, NB for a discussion on how nature-based coastal adaptation strategies help conserve nature and enhance biodiversity, benefiting ecosystems and communities. Save the date for the CNAM 2026 National Conference set to take place May 4 – 7, 2026, in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador. The conference is expected to attract more than 250 municipal, provincial, and federal leaders, as well as interested parties from utilities, consultants, researchers, educators, and others to share insights about all aspects of asset management. Delegates will benefit from a combination of inspirational keynote speakers, interactive breakout sessions, informative tours, and excellent networking opportunities. Climate Risk Institute offers training and professional development courses that will be of interest for engineers involved in the planning, design, procurement, operation and management of natural and built infrastructure.
