***NEW*** Memorial University’s Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science presents a Peter Kohler Engineering Scholarship opportunity for incoming Engineering One Students for Fall 2024. A significant scholarship, in the amount of $50,000. Recipients must meet the minimum academic requirements for a scholarship as defined by Memorial University of Newfoundland. ***NEW*** The Climate Risk Institute (CRI) and Engineers and Geoscientists BC are currently seeking Technical Committee members to support the development of a Climate Resiliency Training Program for Building Sector Professionals. The training will be developed for engineers, architects, building scientists, planners, policy makers and procurement professionals in Canada involved in planning, designing and constructing new and existing Part 3 buildings. Understanding your Secondary Professional Liability Insurance: Members in good standing automatically have Secondary Professional Liability Insurance. This unique program protects both you and the public in numerous scenarios involving whistleblowing, retirement, intellectual property, data loss, mentorship, and more. PEGNL is looking for experienced professionals to help review the experience of those applying for licensure by serving as Volunteer Assessors in the Competency Based Assessment (CBA) framework. While all areas of expertise are welcome, we are looking for additional assessors with experience in the following areas: mechanical engineering, process engineering, computer engineering, geology, and geophysics. If you have been licensed for at least 5 years and are interested in learning more about becoming an assessor, please apply on our website.

***NEW*** Climate Risk Institute offers training and professional development courses that will be of interest for engineers involved in the planning, design, procurement, operation and management of natural and built infrastructure.

This Fall (starting September 23), extend your learning on topics including infrastructure climate risks, PIEVC risk assessment protocol, climate law, and climate smart policy and procurement. For course details and to register, please see CRI's courses at Royal Roads University.


Canada Learning Code (Newfoundland Chapter) is starting reoccurring events. Which will consist of talks, networking and light refreshments. An upcoming workshop titled AI Fundamentals is scheduled for August 19th, 6:00pm - 8:30pm NST at Memorial University. To learn more about this workshop and future workshops click here.


Conference for Women in Engineering & Technology is scheduled for October 24th to 26th, a three-day flagship event by the Society of Women Engineers which offers opportunities to engage in networking, gain career insights, and connect with industry leaders on innovation. Participants can attend interactive workshops on leadership and engineering subjects, cultivating relationships and empowering women. For more information click here.
