***NEW*** PEGNL is looking for experienced professionals to help review the experience of those applying for licensure by serving as Volunteer Assessors in the Competency Based Assessment (CBA) framework. While all areas of expertise are welcome, we are looking for additional assessors with experience in the following areas: mechanical engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering, geology, and geophysics.
If you have been licensed for at least 5 years and are interested in learning more about becoming an assessor, please apply on our website.

Registration is open for the FUTURE CITY EXPERIENCE: Climate Change, a design challenge for students in grades 6-8! This year, students are tasked with designing a city adapted to the challenges of climate change using the engineering design process. The program begins with a live Q&A event on February 1st, where participants can engage with engineers and scientists specializing in climate change. These experts will provide valuable insights and tips for creating innovative cities.

Throughout the challenge, engineer volunteers will mentor students, offering guidance and answer questions. Students can build physical or virtual models of their cities, which will be presented to a panel of engineers in May. The panel will provide live feedback and approve designs that meet engineering standards.

To support participants, Engineers Canada has partnered with Engineers of Tomorrow, & Ontario Tech University. Virtual mentors will be available for classroom visits starting in late February/early March, and live Q&A sessions featuring engineers from various fields will be conducted. Additionally, students and educators will have access to valuable resources, including past project examples, teacher lessons, presentation guidelines, and practice questions.
The program concludes with a National Showcase in May, hosted by Ontario Tech University. Registration opens December 2023 and closes January 28, 2024. For more information and to register, visit ExploreEngineering.ca. Join us in shaping the future of sustainable cities!
