***NEW*** Memorial Engineering Outreach have released the dates for their 2024 summer camp programs. Learn what it's like to be an engineer! From robotics to circuits, their Engineering Summer Camp Program will engage youth from grade 1 to 12 and test their skills through fun and interesting engineering-related camps. Memorial University's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science is hosting an open house on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the S. J. Carew building. Join them for guided tours, demonstrations, opportunities to meet student teams, connect with research groups and more! There will also be a youth interaction station set up with various STEM themed toys, gadgets, robots and books that visitors are welcome to try out. Free parking will be available in lots 7, 60 and 61.

Pathway to Engineering is now live!. A resource to connect engineering graduates to knowledge about the licensure process and create a community of professionals who can support them on their journey. ***NEW*** PowerUp Speaker Series is hosting a workshop to cover the foundations needed to work with 2SLGBTQIA+clients. The workshop will take place via Zoom on March 27, 2024. The topics covered includes terminology basics (sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender presentation), pronouns, a breakdown of all the terms included in the 2SLGBTQIA+ acronym, best practices, practical tips, a discussion period, and Q&A. The webinar will introduce the practice of mindfulness, and how it can help develop a healthy relationship to thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and take charge of anxiety and stress. ***NEW*** The Society of Petroleum Engineers is hosting a lecture titled "Early Kick Detection: Sensors, Data Acquisition and Analysis." A kick or an influx may be defined as an unintended flow of formation fluid into the borehole. One key message from this lecture: Kicks can be catastrophic, but recent and future developments in sensor technology, data processing, and telemetry are enabling timely identification and mitigation plans. CLIMAtlantic and Ducks Unlimited are hosting an introductory session about climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies with a focus on using natural infrastructure as part of those solutions. The goal of this event is to help professionals identify the most pertinent climate change risks to communities of all sizes in Newfoundland and Labrador and give those attending strategies and tools for addressing those concerns. Engineering Change Lab USA is hosting a virtual summit March 19, 2024, Moving from Cybersecurity to Cyber Resilience. In a world where ever more complex digital systems intertwine with infrastructure and technology-enabled resources and services, cyber threats and dangers are outpacing societies’ ability to effectively prevent and manage them. A new, essential role for the engineering community is emerging: creation and stewardship of cyber-resilient critical infrastructure on behalf of society. IDEAS 2024, in partnership with the Association for New Canadians, is a one day free event designed to provide opportunities for participants to learn of the long term benefits of immigration and workplace diversity. Targeting employers, it will feature keynote speakers and guest panelists who will share seminal research, best practices and challenges around making both the province and the workplace more diverse and inclusive. Building on the momentum of previous summits, it will offer perspectives for businesses and other stakeholders from which they can grow their efforts to recruit and retain talented workers through more inclusive practices and how to better support inclusivity in a diverse workplace. The event will be held at the Emera Exchange Centre on March 21, 2024 with registration opening at 8:30am. Join Engineers Canada at the 2024 30 by 30 Conference: Turning Knowledge into Action for Gender Equity in Engineering. This year’s conference consists of a three- hour virtual session on April 24, as well as an in-person event on May 22 in Winnipeg, MB. The virtual session is open to everyone, including equity, diversity, and inclusion champions, engineers, engineering employers, engineering educators, engineering students, and engineering regulators. Women in Resource Development Corporation is offering a virtual workshop, Diversity, Inclusion & You, which provides participants with practical and foundational knowledge about diversity and inclusion.
