Memorial Engineering Outreach have released the dates for their 2024 summer camp programs. Learn what it's like to be an engineer! From robotics to circuits, their Engineering Summer Camp Program will engage youth from grade 1 to 12 and test their skills through fun and interesting engineering-related camps. ***NEW*** Climate Risk Institute offers training and professional development courses that will be of interest for engineers involved in the planning, procurement, design, operation, maintenance, management or regulation of infrastructure and who need to consider climate risk, resilience and the changing climate in carrying out these activities.

This spring, extend your learning on topics including infrastructure climate risks, the globally-recognized PIEVC risk assessment protocol, risk management and communication, climate law, and climate smart policy and procurement. ***NEW*** This April PGO is presenting its 2024 Virtual Symposium, providing an opportunity to engage with and discuss some of the most interesting issues and pressing challenges currently facing our professional practice. Four interactive sessions will be delivered by expert speaker panels, covering topics including:

• Equity & Diversity in Geoscience and New International Work Experience Guidelines
• Labour Market Challenges Across Generations of Geoscientists
• Artificial Intelligence in Geoscience Practice
• Legal Considerations as a P.Geo. and when Acting as a Qualified Person

This symposium is relevant to professional geoscientists, geoscientists-in-training, and geoscience students across Ontario and beyond. This learning event will also be of interest to associated communities, including professional regulators, technical societies, government staff, legal practitioners, and the public.

PowerUp Speaker Series is hosting a workshop to cover the foundations needed to work with 2SLGBTQIA+clients. The workshop will take place via Zoom on March 27, 2024. The topics covered includes terminology basics (sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender presentation), pronouns, a breakdown of all the terms included in the 2SLGBTQIA+ acronym, best practices, practical tips, a discussion period, and Q&A. The Society of Petroleum Engineers is hosting a lecture titled "Early Kick Detection: Sensors, Data Acquisition and Analysis." A kick or an influx may be defined as an unintended flow of formation fluid into the borehole. One key message from this lecture: Kicks can be catastrophic, but recent and future developments in sensor technology, data processing, and telemetry are enabling timely identification and mitigation plans.
