***NEW*** The PEGNL Board of Directors Election will open soon. In the coming days members will receive an email from the election system provider Truverus, with instructions on how to vote. Voting is open until June 5, 2024.
***NEW*** PEGNL will be holding its Annual General Meeting virtually on June 14, 2024 from 11:00am – 1:00pm NDT. Registration details will be provided shortly for those who wish to attend.
Join us as DiversityNL facilitates a session on, “Business Case for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging in Organizations” Thursday, May 23, 2024, 12:00-1:30 PM NST. This will be session 1 in a 3-part education series and will be held virtually through Zoom (Zoom meeting details as sent April 9, 2024).
This session looks at the business case for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in organizations in four areas including economics-the financial factor, increasing engagement-human factor, retention and recruitment-HR factor and right thing to do-the legal factor. As well, this session briefly outlines the everyday struggles faced by women, indigenous, racialized, persons with disabilities and 2SLGBTQ+ persons allowing for empathy and shifting perspectives. Understanding our privileges and where we fit as people inside our organization is paramount.

Delegates that attend the NLCA Build 2024 Expo demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and improvement, and can claim 4 hours of professional development in PEGNL’s CPD program for each day attended. ***NEW*** Join Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canda & Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Immigration, Population Growth, and Skills and learn how employees can leverage the immigration system to address labour needs and be supported by the federal and provincial governments. This event is free of charge to employers who have hired, or are thinking about hiring, foreign nationals. Representatives from Provincial and Federal Departments, as well as local settlement providers, will be on hand to share info and help answer your questions. Engineering Change Lab – USA’s (ECL) virtual summit on March 19, 2024, explored the magnitude of the threat, the consequences of cyber-attacks, barriers to progress in addressing these threats, and the nature of the “step change” required for the engineering community to fully embrace this leadership role. Mari-Tech 2024 Conference & Exhibition is scheduled for May 14-16, 2024 at the St. John’s Convention Centre. This year’s theme is Navigating Sustainable Marine Transportation. Held annually, Mari-Tech is hosted in turn by each of CIMarE’s seven branches; Mari-Tech 2024 is a collaboration between the CIMarE Newfoundland & Labrador Branch and the SNAME Canadian Atlantic section and will take place in St. John’s, NL. Registration is now open for the 2024 International Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDI-AR) Conference! This conference will bring together students, staff, researchers, faculty, community leaders and industry professionals from around the world to share success stories and achievements, and to learn about innovative and creative ways to design and implement EDI-AR programs and policies in post-secondary institutions, community groups, associations and not-for-profit agencies. This hybrid event will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, online and at Memorial’s Signal Hill campus in St. John’s. With so many new construction documents soon-to-be or already released, the Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) is thrilled to be hosting their first in-person seminars since the pandemic. 27 seminars will be delivered across Canada between April 29 and May 17 by the authors themselves. Climate Risk Institute offers training and professional development courses that will be of interest for engineers involved in the planning, procurement, design, operation, maintenance, management or regulation of infrastructure and who need to consider climate risk, resilience and the changing climate in carrying out these activities.
This spring (starting April 25), extend your learning on topics including infrastructure climate risks, the globally-recognized PIEVC risk assessment protocol, risk management and communication, climate law, and climate smart policy and procurement.
