***NEW*** The PEGNL Board of Directors Election is open. Members have now received an email from the election system provider, with instructions on how to vote. Voting is open until June 5, 2024.


***NEW*** PEGNL will be holding its Annual General Meeting virtually on June 14, 2024 from 11:00am – 1:00pm NDT. To register for the AGM, click here. Submissions to the AGM agenda are due May 25, 2024, the form with which to note your proposed AGM agenda item and member support can be found here.


***NEW*** The City of St. John’s is considering a text amendment to the St. John’s Development Regulations, that will enable a greater variety of housing types in residential zones. The proposed text amendment will support the City's action plan to stimulate housing growth, which is supported by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s Housing Accelerator Fund.

As part of the amendment public consultation, the City is holding a focus group meeting for development professionals. We invite members of the Canadian Home Builders' Association - Newfoundland and Labrador (CHBA-NL), Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Architects (NLAA), Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Professional Planners (NLAPP) and Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) to attend a virtual meeting on Friday, May 24, 2024, 9:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. Registration is required.

If members are unable to attend the focus group meeting, the City is also holding two public meetings:

  • In-Person Public Meeting, 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Foran/Greene Room, Fourth Floor, St. John’s City Hall.
  • Virtual Public Meeting, 7 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024

Join us as DiversityNL facilitates a session on, “Business Case for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging in Organizations” Thursday, May 23, 2024, 12:00-1:30 PM NST. This will be session 1 in a 3-part education series and will be held virtually through Zoom (Zoom meeting details as sent April 9, 2024).

This session looks at the business case for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in organizations in four areas including economics-the financial factor, increasing engagement-human factor, retention and recruitment-HR factor and right thing to do-the legal factor. As well, this session briefly outlines the everyday struggles faced by women, indigenous, racialized, persons with disabilities and 2SLGBTQ+ persons allowing for empathy and shifting perspectives. Understanding our privileges and where we fit as people inside our organization is paramount.

***NEW*** Beginning May 23rd, join Andrew Safer for a 6-week “Resilience Through Mindfulness” workshop series, starting with a free introductory session on Thursday, May 23rd, and meeting on Wednesdays for 5 weeks until June 26th, both in-person and on Zoom. This series is for new and experienced mindfulness practitioners alike. To learn more click here.


Gardiner Centre is offering a number of interesting training opportunities being offered through the month of May, touching on managing time, people, and stress! Climate Risk Institute offers training and professional development courses that will be of interest for engineers involved in the planning, procurement, design, operation, maintenance, management or regulation of infrastructure and who need to consider climate risk, resilience and the changing climate in carrying out these activities.

This spring (starting April 25), extend your learning on topics including infrastructure climate risks, the globally-recognized PIEVC risk assessment protocol, risk management and communication, climate law, and climate smart policy and procurement.
