PEGNL is looking for experienced professionals to help review the experience of those applying for licensure by serving as Volunteer Assessors in the Competency Based Assessment (CBA) framework. While all areas of expertise are welcome, we are looking for additional assessors with experience in mechanical engineering, process engineering and chemical engineering. If you have been licensed for at least 5 years and are interested in learning more about becoming an assessor, please apply on our website.


The Nomination period for the PMI Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter 2026 General Election is open until July 30, 2026. The open positions and criteria/requirements for the roles can be found here.

***NEW*** The webinar facilitated by Erin Thorp of ELF Solutions Inc. on, "Leading with Empathy in a High-Performance World", in early June, is now available on PEGNL's learning management system. In this webinar, leadership coach and speaker Erin Thorp draws on neuroscience, current research, and her Tactical Empathy™ framework to show how empathy in action — for yourself and your team — drives retention, reduces burnout, and builds cultures where people don't just stay, but thrive. This session qualifies as professional development in the "non-technical" category.


***NEW*** Registration is open for the Adaptation Canada 2026 conference to be held in Toronto September 22 to 24, 2026, which will bring together over 1,000 practitioners from diverse Canadian sectors and communities to exchange ideas, share solutions, and drive Canada’s climate resilience efforts. Adaptation Canada 2026 is delivered by ICLEI Canada with support from a network of partners. To learn more and register, click here.


***NEW*** Climate Risk Institute is hosting a virtual, interactive discussion on the development of Sectoral Adaptation Implementation Supports - practical resources designed to help natural resource sectors move from climate adaptation planning to action. These supports provide information on key barriers, enablers, and drivers of adaptation implementation through sector-specific guidance, case studies, actionable recommendations, and curated resources. PEGNL is partnering with TechNest Community for T.E.A. in the Park 2026. An annual outdoor community mixer bringing together professionals, students, and innovators from across the technology, engineering, and creative industries in Newfoundland and Labrador. This year's event expands its scope to create a structured yet accessible space that fosters authentic collaboration, cross-disciplinary connections, and community engagement within NL's growing innovation ecosystem. The event is scheduled July 15, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at Bannerman Park, St. John's. Registration is free, click here to register.


The Project Management Institute Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter Annual Symposium and Silver Anniversary Gala will be held September 16 and 17, respectively. On June 29, 2026, learn about the Atlantic Immigrant Career Loan Fund (AICLF). This ISANS-led initiative can help immigrants with permanent resident status or Canadian citizenship obtain training and certification in their chosen fields or related fields in their new home provinces. Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST) will be hosting IGNITE St. John’s: STEM Networking Night, Thursday, July 16, 2026. An inclusive networking event designed to bring together students, early-career professionals, educators, employers, researchers, industry leaders, and community members working across STEM, trades, innovation, ocean technology, defence, and related sectors in Newfoundland and Labrador.
