***NEW*** PEGNL is looking for experienced professionals to help review the experience of those applying for licensure by serving as Volunteer Assessors in the Competency Based Assessment (CBA) framework. While all areas of expertise are welcome, we are looking for additional assessors with experience in the following areas: mechanical engineering, process engineering, geology, and geophysics. If you have been licensed for at least 5 years and are interested in learning more about becoming an assessor, please apply on our website.

***NEW*** Memorial University, Faculty of Medicine is recruiting volunteers to take part in Medical School Interviews for 2025. Without volunteer involvement and commitment, the Faculty would be unable to complete a vital component in the evaluation of medical school applications that is necessary to determine the next class of matriculants at Memorial University’s medical school. Interviews for medical school applicants will be taking place virtually on Saturday, February 1st and Sunday, February 2nd, 2025 (volunteers select one day). Atlantic Canada Salary Survey Results - the 2024 salary survey summary reports are available. This year, Engineers Nova Scotia, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB), Engineers PEI, and Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) agreed to jointly complete a salary and benefits survey. WISE NL’s 2024 Annual General Meeting is scheduled Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at The Landing (Memorial University, UC3035). WISE NL extends an invitation to the 2024 Annual General meeting to review the 2024 year and complete the election process for the 2025 Board of Directors. The meeting will be followed by a Speaker Series event with Liz Palmera-Nunez titled "Empowering Future Leaders-The Power of Self Promotion and Building Your Brand". To register please click here.
Annual Renewal for PEGNL license holders is now open. Members can log in to PEGNL’s online member portal (members.pegnl.ca) and complete their annual renewal for 2025.
Call for Volunteers. FIRST LEGO League Newfoundland and Labrador (FLLNL), is running the annual robotics competition November 23, 2024. Teams of students from grades 4-9 will be challenged to discover and solve a real-world problem related to this year's theme “Submerged”, which has a focus on ocean science. The Student Design Hub (SDH) at Memorial University is inviting PEGNL members and their colleagues to the 3rd Annual Student Design Showcase Pitch and Pick event, hosted on November 21st, 2024. Each year, students develop innovative projects and prototypes, representing Memorial University and our province on national and international stages. This event is a unique opportunity for industry members, sponsors, and mentors to hear directly from the teams about how they plan to execute their big ideas. Engineers Canada is now accepting award nominations. Each year, Engineers Canada recognizes engineers and engineering students for their exceptional work in the engineering community through their awards program. The various categories highlight important contributions in engineering, engineering education, community involvement, the advancement of women in engineering and significant accomplishments in engineering. Nominations for the 2025 Engineers Canada Awards program is now open until January 17, 2025. For more information click here.

***NEW*** The Atlantic Immigrant Career Loan Fund (AICLF) ISANS-led initiative can help immigrants with permanent resident status or Canadian citizenship obtain training and certification in their chosen fields or related fields in their new home provinces. November 25, 2024 join one-hour webinar to learn about the AICLF. During the event information will be provided on who is eligible for the AICLF, what costs at he AICLF can cover, the kinds of program the AICLF can help pay for, how the AICLF is funded and how it is administered and more. Memorial University’s Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science is running a workshop “Go ENG Girl” November 23, 2024. This workshop is offered at no charge to female identifying youths in grades 7-11. The day will be filled with hands-on activities, a variety of engineering experiences, information sessions and the opportunity to learn what a career in engineering might offer. Parents/ Guardians are welcome to stay for the first few sessions to learn more about Engineering at Memorial and take part in some of the activities. To register click here.
Due to a high level of interest to join Andrew Safer November 19, 2024, for a complementary workshop titled “Building Resilience with Mindfulness”, that will focus on developing resilience to anxiety and stress, registration has been closed for this date.
