Board Committees
PEGNL is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors whose Ends (organizational goals) address the licensed, competent, and ethical practice of engineering and geoscience, and public confidence in these professions.
The Board is governed by a set of policies in accordance with the Carver Policy Governance Model®. The Ends direct the organization’s activities of licensure; regulation of the professions; and non-regulatory functions in support of the professions.
The Board has the following committees to assist in the fulfillment of its mandate. Membership on these committees is typically limited to current Board members.
Audit Committee
The Audit Committee enhances the Board’s effectiveness and efficiency in fulfilling its fiscal monitoring responsibilities through the financial review and annual audit processes.
Board Linkages Committee
The Linkages Committee creates a plan for linkages with the owners (the public) and stakeholders of PEGNL. Linkages with these groups enable the Board to better understand the values of ownership when making or revising policies, particularly Ends policies.
CEO Performance Review Committee
The CEO Performance Committee facilitates the assessment of the performance of the CEO in meeting the Ends of PEGNL while avoiding unacceptable means.
Complaints Authorization Committee (CAC)
The Complaints Authorization Committee (CAC) fulfills its legislated role in reviewing and acting upon “allegations” of “conduct deserving of sanction” referred to it by the Registrar in accordance with the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, 2008.
Envisioning Committee
The Envisioning Committee leads and facilitates Board activities and deliberations related to the defining of a “desired future” for the regulation of the professions. The committee looks outward beyond the organization and gathers environmental scanning data to help inform the possible and probable futures of regulation.
Nominating and Board Composition Committee
The Nominating and Board Composition Committee ensures:
- The board composition is in conformance with the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, 2008 and the Engineers and Geoscientists Regulations, 2011;
- Elections are conducted fairly and in accordance with the bylaws; and
- Candidates and the electorate have sufficient information needed to make reasoned decisions.
